In 1948, Longchamp was founded in Paris in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, which showed his unique understanding of French elegance and redefined the concept of modern luxury. The brand started out as a holster pipe manufacturer, but it has expanded to include men's and women's bags, accessories and suitcases, as well as women's ready-to-wear, shoes and glasses. Longchamp retained the tradition of independent family management, which is still owned and run by the Cassegrain family today. Today, led by artistic director Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp blends modern luxury, innovation and vitality on the basis of traditional crafts and techniques. What remains the same is that all the workshops still use "Made by Longchamp" marks as a guarantee of quality.
